Five-year-old Beckett Guinn, Chief David Splain and Officer Taryn Kelly gathered at Wallingford Elementary School on Friday afternoon to share popcorn and Oreos, turning an ordinary day into a memorable occasion.
Guinn’s parents had originally won a raffle for Lunch with the Nether Providence Township Chief of Police, but due to school scheduling, the event was changed to a snack-time visit instead.
Still, this was no ordinary prize—it was a special honor for Beckett. Chief Splain personally selected the treats, surprising Beckett with his favorites. Bottles of Gatorade completed the spread. Allie, Beckett’s mom, suggested he wear his prized NPPD shirt—a gift from Officer Kelly after she drove him to school earlier this month, also thanks to a lucky raffle win. But she kept the day’s plans a secret.
“I wanted this to be a surprise,” Allie said about the snack-time visit.
Beckett greeted the officers with a beaming smile and eagerly filled his plate. The trio enjoyed a cheerful 15-minute visit before posing for a photo with Principal Stephen Krall. Chief Splain and Officer Kelly also met Beckett’s classmates and their teacher, Miss Devine, making the day even more memorable. “It was a wonderful way to spend part of my Friday afternoon,” Chief Splain said. Officer Kelly wholeheartedly agreed.
The raffles supported the Strath Haven High School Class of 2026 After Prom fundraiser.
