On Friday, October 31, 2025, the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police conducted a DUI checkpoint in the 4700 block of Union Deposit Road. This checkpoint was a proactive approach to identify and arrest intoxicated drivers. The location was selected based on crash data along with prior officer-initiated DUI arrests.
During the checkpoint Lower Paxton Officers identified 18 individuals who showed some level of impairment, which resulted in 13 individuals being arrested for DUI. In addition to those arrests, 5 other individuals were arrested for drug violations, and 2 individuals were processed for being in possession of alcohol while under the age of 21. There were 5 child safety seats installed for parents who were operating vehicles without properly restrained children. Officers also issued 25 traffic contacts for a variety of traffic offenses.
This checkpoint was funded by a grant that is part of the Lower Paxton Township Police Traffic Safety Grant and these funds come from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police plans to conduct similar events in the future.
