During student drop-off at Southside Elementary School on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, members of the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police conducted a child safety seat checkpoint. This checkpoint was conducted with funding being provided by the Lower Paxton Township Police Traffic Safety Grant which is sponsored by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Officers checked every vehicle during student drop-off. Officers provided 8 car seats which were installed by certified technicians and made adjustments to an additional 4 car seats. Officers also issued 11 written warnings for child safety seat violations, 1 equipment card for an expired inspection, and 2 traffic citations for two drivers who were operating their vehicles while their license was suspended. Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police will continue to conduct child safety seat checks throughout the school year to ensure the safety of all children while in motor vehicles.
