On March 5, 2026, the Lower Paxton Bureau of Police took Christian Shea Carter into custody on charges of Theft by Deception, a felony of the second degree, and False Identification to Law Enforcement, a misdemeanor of the third degree. The arrest resulted from an investigation into a incident at the Simple Gold Exchange, located in the Colonial Park Mall at 4600 Jonestown Road. On December 28, 2025, Carter allegedly paid an elderly victim with a check in excess of $200,000 for gold coins. However, when the check bounced, Carter shifted the blame to the bank, refused to return the gold coins, and failed to reimburse the victim until authorities intervened. During his initial interview, Carter provided a false identity to detectives. On March 5, 2026, Carter surrendered to authorities, was arraigned by MDJ Wenner, and released on his own recognizance.
