Numerous citizens have filed complaints with the Harrisburg Bureau of Police in reference to a recent telephone scam.
The complainants reported that a person identifying himself as "Lt Howard" from the Dauphin County Sheriff's Department called them at their residence. "Lt Howard" informed the victims that they had missed a court date and were being held in contempt. They were then informed that if they paid a $100 processing fee, they would not be arrested.
Citizens are being warned that this is a scam and they should report any similar incidents to their local police.
They should not provide their bank or credit information over the phone.
