On 04/14/2025 at approximately 10:50PM Carlisle Police responded to a local manufacturing business after it was reported an ex-employee was on scene armed with a chainsaw, causing damage to the facility.
Richard Sauder was fired from the business earlier in the day and came back to the business hours later armed with a chainsaw. Sauder used the chainsaw to damage company property on the exterior of the building before entering the building, which was occupied by employees, and waving a chainsaw around, damaging additional property.
When Sauder entered the building, employees observed him in possession of the chainsaw and fled the building, in fear for their safety.
Sauder was taken in to custody and was charged with 1 count of Burglary (Felony 1), 1 count of Causing or risking a catastrophe (Felony 3), 1 count of Terroristic threats (Felony 3), 1 count of Criminal mischief (Felony 3), 1 count of Criminal trespass (Felony 3), 16 counts of Terroristic threats (Misdemeanor 1), 16 counts of Recklessly endangering another person (Misdemeanor 1)
