The Camp Hill Police Department is urging residents to take a crucial step in preventing vehicle theft: lock your cars after parking them!
In recent weeks, our department has seen a surge in thefts or attempted thefts from unlocked cars in Camp Hill and neighboring communities. Last year, we experienced a similar trend, with every case of actual theft involving an unlocked vehicle. In none of these instances was forced entry necessary.
In one notable case, a juvenile offender from another community was arrested for theft from a motor vehicle parked in Camp Hill. He revealed that he and his friends targeted our community because they knew they could find an unlocked vehicle with keys inside. It took them only 5-10 minutes to find a vulnerable vehicle, which they then used to commit more thefts in other areas.
The solution is simple: lock your car! By doing so, you can prevent a crime from occurring. Don't make it easy for thieves to strike. Take the necessary precautions to safeguard your vehicle and your belongings.
Remember, locking your car is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself from becoming a crime victim. Let's work together to keep our community safe.
