New Hope Police Department is now actively participating in the Blue Envelope Program.

 What is the Blue Envelope Program?

The Blue Envelope Program is a voluntary, proactive effort that provides individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) a standardized, bright blue envelope to keep with their vehicle registration and insurance cards.

• During a traffic stop, the driver presents the Blue Envelope to the officer.
• The envelope contains crucial information and prompts that help the driver communicate, such as emergency contacts and necessary accommodations.
• The envelope also contains a card for the officer, reminding them of best practices when interacting with someone who may have sensory sensitivities or communication difficulties.

This program is about enhancing safety, reducing anxiety, and fostering clearer communication for everyone involved in a traffic stop. It is a sign of our ongoing commitment to being a compassionate and understanding police force that serves all members of the New Hope community.
