Pennsylvania’s New Right-to-Know Law, Act 3 of 2008, was signed into law by Gov. Edward G. Rendell on February 14, 2008 and became effective January 1, 2009. The Doylestown Township Police Department has established an open records officer for any requests made under the new law.

Investigative Reports:
The Doylestown Township Police Department does not release police investigative reports to the public without a court order. Investigative reports resulting in a criminal investigation are exempt from disclosure under the Act 3 of 2008 Pennsylvania’s Right to Know Law. For those citizens who need a report for insurance or other purposes, the Department can issue a Uniform Investigative Report (U.I.R.) Letter – which is a summation of the report that indicates the incident was reported to the Department. There is a $15.00 fee for the U.I.R. Letter.
Police Video Footage:
Pennsylvania Act 22, Chapter 67A, of 2017 governs public release of police body worn or in-car, audio and/or video recording. Requests must be made on the "Law Enforcement Recording Request Form" Act 22 request form, delivered in person or by certified mail to Doylestown Township Police Department Attn: Office of the Chief of Police, 425 Wells Road Doylestown, PA 18901. The request must be made within 60 days of the date the recording was made and is subject to fees. Please find the form in the drop-down menu.
Accident Report (Traffic crash)
Copies of accident reports are available at the Department during normal business hours. There is a $15.00 fee for a basic report, or a $100.00 fee for a traffic crash reconstruction report. If photographs were taken by the department, they are available for purchase at $15.00 each.
