Congratulations to Officer Johnson and Officer Healy for completing Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training this week. They join the over 800 officers who are equipped with CIT that enhances police response to individuals experiencing mental health crises.
The CIT program brings together law enforcement, behavioral health professionals, community partners, and advocacy groups to ensure compassionate, effective crisis intervention. It has proven to reduce instances of citizen and police officer injuries, less arrests, and less need for physical restraints. Officers learn how to recognize various psychological conditions, understand them, and how to interact with the individual for better outcomes overall.
Join us in congratulating Officer Johnson and Officer Healy!
