“Today’s tragic event is a sobering reminder of the lethal nature of domestic violence. Thanks to the swift, coordinated response from the Bristol Township Police Department, the Middletown Township Police Department, and our Bucks County Detectives, we have successfully taken the defendant into custody and the community is safe.

We have filed a criminal complaint charging Yujun Ren with criminal homicide, possession of an instrument of crime and stalking. We want to specifically commend Detective Maialetti of Bristol Township, and Detectives Kulan and Campbell from the Bucks County Detectives, whose investigation quickly uncovered the evidence necessary to bring these charges.

Our investigation revealed a chilling course of conduct. After the victim courageously reported a sexual assault to the Philadelphia Police Department on Saturday night and attempted to end the relationship, evidence showed Ren began stalking her vehicle in the early morning hours today. The evidence showed that he shot her in her vehicle.

We want to commend the officers and detectives who worked to ensure that these charges were filed within hours of the incident. We are committed to seeking justice for the victim.”
