A 32-year-old man was recently charged with raping a 15-year-old girl in Quakertown earlier this year.
Miguel Angel Sanchez, of Sellersville, was charged in November with numerous counts of rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, trafficking in individuals, and related crimes.
Sanchez was arraigned Nov. 3 by Magisterial District Judge Lisa J. Gaier who sent him to Bucks County Correctional Facility without bail, citing that he is a flight risk, a danger to the community and faces similar charges in Montgomery County. At the time of the offense in Quakertown Borough, Sanchez was out on bail in Montgomery County for charges that include an indecent assault.
Sanchez waived his preliminary hearing on the Bucks County case on Nov. 16 and is awaiting his formal arraignment, scheduled for Friday, Dec. 15.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Quakertown Borough Police Department strongly believe there may be other victims and are asking for them to please come forward. Anyone with information can contact Detective Ryan Naugle of the Quakertown Borough Police Department at 215-536-5002.
Sanchez was arrested on Nov. 3 following an investigation by the Quakertown Borough Police Department.
On Oct. 24, Quakertown police took a report of a rape that happened the night before in the parking lot of the Giant, 1465 W. Broad Street. The victim, a 15-year-old girl, told police a man, later identified as Sanchez, raped her inside his vehicle, which she described as a white, 4 door-vehicle.
Quakertown police were able to review surveillance videos from the area and observed a white sedan in the Giant parking lot at the time of the rape. The vehicle was linked to Sanchez, and his driver’s license photo matched a photo found on the victim’s phone.
The victim told police she met Sanchez on one prior occasion, and they exchanged contact information through Snapchat. During Snapchat conversations, Sanchez would ask the victim for videos of her nude and/or performing sex acts in exchange for money. Sanchez also communicated with one of the victim’s friends, a 16-year-old girl, through Snapchat, and he also asked her for sex videos in exchange for money.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Quakertown Borough Police Department have reason to believe that there may be other victims. Anyone who may be a victim or has information about Sanchez’s actions is urged to call Detective Naugle at 215-536-5002.
This case was investigated by Quakertown Borough Police Department, led by Detective Ryan Naugle, and is assigned for prosecution to Deputy District Attorney Brittney M. Kern.
