BRISTOL BOROUGH MAN CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL HOMICIDE IN STRANGULATION DEATH OF WIFE
A Bristol Borough man has been charged with criminal homicide and related offenses after strangling his wife to death inside their home early Thursday morning, Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan and Bristol Borough Police Chief Joe Moors announced on Friday.
Michael Myers, 59, of the 1300 block of Wood Street, was arrested on Thursday, August 13, 2026, by Bristol Borough Police and Bucks County Detectives. He is charged with criminal homicide, strangulation, aggravated assault, intimidation of witnesses or victims, possession of an instrument of crime, and false imprisonment. He was arraigned early Friday by Magisterial District Judge Brian M. Marriott and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Bristol Borough Police Officers responded to 1305 Wood Street around 6:28 a.m. for a report of a possible deceased person. Upon arrival, officers encountered the victim’s son, who reported that he found his mother, 54-year-old Dawn Myers, deceased on the second floor of the residence. Responding officers conducted a sweep of the home and located Dawn Myers lying on the floor of a second-floor bedroom with multiple men's neckties wrapped around her neck.
Investigators noted that security footage from the home showed no entry or exit between the evening of August 12 and 6:02 a.m. on August 13, when Michael Myers was captured exiting the front door, locking it behind him, and entering a parked vehicle outside.
Officers detained Myers at the scene with visible injuries, including scratches and abrasions to his face, arm, and back.
“Our heart goes out to the victim's family during this unimaginable tragedy,” District Attorney Joe Khan said. “Our office, alongside the Bristol Borough Police Department and Bucks County Detectives, will work tirelessly to ensure that justice is fully served for Dawn Myers.”
Bristol Borough Police Chief Joe Moors praised the collaborative effort between local officers, County Detectives, and the District Attorney's Office following yesterday's tragedy.
“Their professionalism and experience were instrumental in ensuring that every effort was made to achieve the best possible outcome for the victim and her family,” said Chief Moors. “On behalf of the Bristol Borough Police Department and our community, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to DA Khan and his team for their outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to justice.”
The case was investigated by the Bristol Borough Police Department and the Bucks County Detectives. The case is assigned for prosecution to Deputy District Attorney Megan Stricker and Assistant District Attorney Gabrielle Cohen.
