As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, the Buckingham Township Police Department reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental wellness and providing support to our community. As law enforcement officers, we understand the significance of mental health in maintaining overall well-being and addressing the complex challenges we face daily.
Our department is dedicated to providing compassionate and informed responses to individuals in crisis. Our officers undergo Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, which equips them with the skills and knowledge to effectively interact with individuals experiencing mental health crises. This training enables our officers to provide appropriate support and connect individuals with necessary resources, rather than simply responding with traditional law enforcement tactics. Additionally, we have a co-responder available to provide on-scene support and connect individuals with local resources, ensuring a more comprehensive approach to addressing mental health needs.
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please know that help is available. Here are some crisis resources:
In addition to these national resources, our department is committed to working with local mental health organizations to provide support and services to our community. We believe that by working together, we can create a safer, more supportive environment for everyone.
Let's work together to break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage open conversations about this critical aspect of our overall well-being. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Remember, you are not alone, and there is help available.
Together, we can make a difference in our community's mental health.
