The Buckingham Township Police Department is proud to announce its participation in the Blue Envelope Program, a new initiative from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office designed to assist drivers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other conditions that may affect communication.
Traffic stops and vehicle accidents can be stressful experiences for anyone, but they can be especially challenging for individuals who communicate differently. The Blue Envelope Program helps make these interactions safer and more comfortable for everyone involved.
Each blue envelope provides a clearly marked, secure place to store essential documents such as a driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance. When handed to an officer, the envelope also discreetly indicates that the driver may have special communication needs — allowing officers to respond with extra understanding, patience, and care. The Blue Envelope Program is available to anyone who lives, works, or passes through the township or surrounding communities.
Stop by the Police Department to pick up a blue envelope at your convenience. They are located in our brochure holder in the lobby or at the front window during normal business hours M-F from 8am to 4pm.
Together, we can make every interaction on the road safer, calmer, and more understanding for all members of our community.
