Wyomissing Police Department Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Accident
On Friday March 6, 2026, at approximately 1:15 P.M., the Wyomissing Police Department was dispatched to State Hill Road at the entrance to the Berkshire Square Shopping Center for a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. Upon the arrival of officers, a 71-year-old female, Eugenia Polonski of Reading, was found to have been struck by a 2015 Lexus SUV driven by Margo Lemke of Molina Illinois. Polonski was rushed to Reading Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Pennsylvania State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was called to assist in the crash investigation. State Hill Road between Berkshire Blvd and Colony Drive was closed while the investigation was conducted, it was re-opened at approximately 4:00 P.M. After consultation with the Berks County District Attorney’s office, Lemke was cited for section 3323 b, Duties at Stop Signs, of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code. Molina was taken immediately before Magisterial District Justice David Yoch where she pleaded guilty to the offense.
The Wyomissing Police Department was also assisted by the West Reading and Spring Township Police Departments, The Wyomissing Fire Department, Western Berks EMS, and Fire Police from multiple jurisdictions.
