On Tuesday November 26, 2024 at approximately 7:03 PM the Crawford Police received a call for numerous shots fired from a residence at 554 Drexel Drive in the Town of Crawford.
Upon arrival, officers detained 3 males who were clearing the contents of the house. The individuals claimed that a suspect, described as a male, pulled up to the stop sign, exited a vehicle with a rifle and offered to sell it to them. The suspect allegedly fired multiple shots down the road before fleeing on foot, and a blue Altima fled the scene.
During the investigation, officers searched the area and found a shotgun in a pickup owned by one of the individuals in the residence, along with spent shell casing nearby. Further investigation and interviews proved the story told by the occupants was false.
Two of the occupants at the residence were released, and Nicholas R Imperati 18 of Highland Mills was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree and Illegally Discharging of a Firearm. He was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Town Court on December 3, 2024.
The New York State Police and Town of Shawangunk Police assisted at the scene.
Notice: A criminal charge is merely an allegation by the police that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York's burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
