WHEN: Monday April 8th 2024
ECLIPSE IMPACT TIME IN THOMASVILLE, NC: Begins at 1:56 PM, with maximum eclipse at 3:13 PM, and ends at 4:27 PM.
SAFETY POINTERS FOR ECLIPSE VIEWING:
1. NEVER look at the sun directly without proper eye protection. Regular sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not safe for looking at the sun.
2. Use special eclipse glasses or handheld solar viewers that meet standards for such products.
3. Avoid using homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses, as they do not provide sufficient eye protection.
4. Do not look at the sun through a camera, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while using your eclipse glasses or hand-held solar viewer — the concentrated solar rays can damage the filter and enter your eyes, causing serious injury.
5. Supervise children using solar filters to ensure they use them correctly.
6. If you experience any discomfort or odd symptoms while viewing the eclipse, immediately stop and consult a professional.
