The Town of Mount Airy is currently experiencing extremely dangerous winter weather conditions due to heavy snow accumulation and freezing precipitation.

- Many side roads are completely covered with snow and ice
- Road conditions remain extremely slick with heavy snow build up
- Travel is hazardous and NOT advised

At this time, roadways are unsafe for travel, especially secondary and residential roads. Vehicles can become stuck, sliding, and losing control due to ice buildup.

 AT ALL COSTS, PLEASE STAY HOME AND STAY OFF THE ROADS. 
Only travel if it is absolutely necessary or for emergency purposes.

 Public safety, road crews, and emergency responders have been actively monitoring conditions throughout the night and early morning.

- Check on neighbors if safe to do so
