On 05/01/2025 Gray County Sheriff's Office received information about a suspicious subject in Cimarron, KS at 111 E Ave A. During the initial stages of this investigation, it was learned by officers some of the information given to Gray County Sheriffs Office was inaccurate and no credible threat was found. After deputies arrived, the subject was no longer in the area. A search of the area was made without finding the subject. Later the subject in question was located by Sheriff Sharp walking along K23 Highway near T Rd south of Cimarron Undersheriff Ellis and Deputy Orr arrived a minute later on scene. During this contact, it was verified the subject was unarmed, not wanted, and was cooperative with deputies. The subject was transient and was passing through Gray County. The subject was given a ride to a nearby jurisdiction after giving the nearby jurisdiction notification of the subjects intention to travel by foot.
