On July 21, 2025, the Village of Summit welcomed its newest probationary police officer, Carlos Munoz, during a swearing-in ceremony at the Village Board meeting. Chief Ortiz administered the oath to Officer Munoz, who was joined by his family at the event.
Officer Munoz, a Summit native and Argo Community High School graduate, brings valuable experience to the department, having served as a Cook County Corrections Officer. His familiarity with the community's needs will undoubtedly serve him well in his new role.
Following his swearing-in, Officer Munoz will attend the Cook County Sheriff's Police Academy in September. Upon successful completion, he will begin his field training program as a patrol officer for the Village of Summit.
The Village of Summit's Mayor, Sergio Rodriguez, Village Board members, and Members of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners extended a warm welcome to Officer Munoz, wishing him success in his new role.
