Florida law requires riders under 16 to wear a helmet on an e-mobility device (e-MMDs). And now DeLand goes a step further. Under the new city ordinance, all riders under 18 must wear a helmet while operating an e-MMD. Anyone under 18 years old riding an e-MMD without a helmet may be stopped and cited by one of our officers. This new requirement is about keeping young riders safer. One of the most common injuries from e-MMD accidents is head trauma. A helmet is a small thing that makes a big difference.
