DeLand police are investigating the deaths of two young men who were found shot Wednesday night at an industrial property on West New York Avenue.
Officers were dispatched around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday to a report of two deceased people at 213 West New York Ave. When they arrived, they found two men who had been shot multiple times. Both were pronounced dead at the scene at 10:48 p.m.
Reports that the men were found on the property of the Athens Theatre are incorrect. The location is a separate industrial property.
The victims were identified as Dustin Rose, 19, and Samson Campbell, 18, both white males. Rose was a student at The Citadel and served in the National Guard. It appears the two victims knew each other in some way.
The DeLand Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and is leading the investigation, which remains active. Detectives are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
"My thoughts are with the victims and their families today," DeLand Police Chief Jason Umberger said. "This is a tragic situation for all involved, and my department is working to find the answers as to what happened."
The surveillance photo above is the last time the two victims were seen on Tuesday evening around 6 p.m.

Our department will continue to evaluate evidence and release updated information as it becomes available.
