St. Peter Catholic School fifth graders celebrated their successful completion of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program on Tuesday. Each student received a gold-embossed certificate from DeLand Police Officer Corey Muller, with assistance from Officer Latisha Pasley and Sgt. Brian Bice. The 10-week program has been around for more than 40 years and has proven to be both an effective and long-lasting approach to preventing drug use in elementary school students. Oh, and cookies completed the celebration!
