(DeLand) – DeLand police detectives are investigating two different incidents from over the weekend – an attempted burglary of an occupied home in a neighborhood off Orange Camp Road on Friday evening and a suspicious incident in Kennington Cove on Halloween night.
On Friday, November 1, 2024, three unknown subjects broke the rear glass door to get into a home located in the 1700 block of Timber Oaks Court around 8:35 p.m. Once the subjects realized the home was occupied, they took off.
Officers set up a perimeter and VSO’s Air One responded. The K-9 unit conducted a track, but it was unsuccessful.
After learning of the occupied burglary, a resident in the 2300 block of Kennington Cove reported an incident she initially believed was a prank due to it having occurred on Halloween night, October 31, 2024.
The resident said a subject wearing long sleeves, ski-mask, gloves, and a crowbar arrived at the residence and rang the video doorbell and tried the doorknob.
The Criminal Investigations Division is diligently investigating both cases. At this time, it is unclear if the incidents are related.
If you have any video surveillance that can help in either of these cases, please contact Detective Craig Walter at walterc@deland.org
We ask residents to be on alert and report any suspicious activity.
