On 5/23/19 at approximately 6:38 pm the Columbia Borough Police Department responded to the 400 block of Avenue H for a report of a theft of a motorcycle. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the caller who reported that his black 2006 Suzuki GSXR 1000 had been stolen from a private parking lot to the rear of a property in the 400 block of Locust Street. He said he had parked the motorcycle there around 2:00pm and noticed it missing around 6:30pm. A camera captured a tall white male wearing a red Columbia sweatshirt, black hat, and sunglasses sitting on the motorcycle and pushing it down the alley with his feet. Two Officers were able to identify the male on the motorcycle as Christopher Barton, Sr., 46, of Columbia. A criminal complaint was completed for the theft of the motorcycle and a warrant was issued for Barton. The warrant was served to Barton at approximately 8:15 pm, he was placed under arrest and was transported to Central Arraignment. Barton is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
