The DeLand Police Department is pleased to announce the results of the annual Drug Take Back program this past Saturday.

The total weight of the drugs collected was 111 pounds and 4 ounces turned in. The drugs collected will be shipped by the DEA to a area incinerator and destroyed.

This bi-annual event allows local residents to turn in any type of drug or medication with no questions asked. Several of our residents that participated in Saturday's event thanked our Agency for our continued participation in the program. A few of the residents reported the type of drugs and medications being turned in were pain medication and did not want them to fall into the wrong hands and lead to a overdose or death.
