North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) officers arrested a Charleston man Tuesday after he allegedly stalked and repeatedly threatened the mother of his children.
According to police, officers responded just before 10 p.m. on June 27 to the Sage Apartment Complex in the 9300 block of Blue House Road to assist with a keep-the-peace escort.
When officers arrived, the victim told them she requested police assistance because of ongoing threats from the father of her children, identified as 34-year-old Vincent Simmons.
The victim said she had previously filed a domestic violence report against Simmons in May and later attempted to obtain an order of protection.
While officers were at the apartment, Simmons repeatedly called the victim's phone. The victim answered one call on speakerphone, allowing officers to hear Simmons allegedly threaten to harm her if she did not allow him to see the children. Police said Simmons made additional threats during another speakerphone call.
Investigators reviewed the victim's phone records and found that Simmons had placed 33 calls beginning around 9:47 p.m. that night.
Police said department records indicate Simmons has an extensive history of similar incidents involving the same victim.
On Tuesday, Simmons surrendered to North Charleston Police at City Hall. He was charged with Stalking and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
