A Goose Creek man was arrested Thursday by North Charleston Police (NCPD) after allegedly fleeing the scene of a three-vehicle crash that left one person seriously injured.
At approximately 6:45 a.m., officers responded to a collision with injuries at the intersection of Palmetto Commerce Parkway and Weber Boulevard. Upon arrival, an officer found three heavily damaged vehicles involved in the crash.
According to victims at the scene, the suspect vehicle struck two vehicles that were stopped at a red light at a high rate of speed before the driver fled on foot. Officers observed skid marks on the roadway that were believed to have been made by the suspect vehicle.
The officer reported that all three vehicles were totaled. One victim suffered serious bodily injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A witness later informed officers that the suspected driver was seen walking near the intersection of Palmetto Commerce Parkway and Weber Boulevard. Officers located and detained the suspect, identified as Benigno Raul Camargo.
