On June 18th, 2026, the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) investigated the tragic death of an infant in the 2200 block of Eleanor Drive in North Charleston, SC. During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that officers had previously responded to this residence. In light of these findings, the NCPD has requested the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to conduct a thorough investigation into the case.
The two officers who had previously responded to the residence have been placed on administrative leave. NCPD is committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and accountability. We have requested SLED’s assistance due to concerns about the initial investigation and how it conforms with our department policy. This request process has just started and additional information will be unavailable until the process is complete.
We are dedicated to ensuring a transparent and comprehensive review of this matter, and we appreciate the community’s patience as we work to uncover all details.
