Officers with the North Charleston Police Department(NCPD) have arrested a man in connection with a domestic violence incident that occurred on May 23 in the 3000 block of Nantuckett Avenue.

Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance and found the victim in a damaged vehicle a short distance from the scene. The vehicle had significant damage to the driver's side and front bumper.

The victim told officers that her husband, 32-year-old Shaquille Montre Hamilton of North Charleston, intentionally struck her vehicle multiple times with the vehicle he was driving. She said Hamilton fled the area but later returned to their residence, where he was captured on a security camera entering the home.

Officers located a disabled, unoccupied vehicle in the roadway on Nantucket Avenue with extensive damage to its front passenger side. When officers went to the couple's residence and announced their presence, no one answered the door.

Investigators reviewed a neighbor's doorbell camera footage, which allegedly showed the victim driving away from the home while Hamilton's vehicle accelerated aggressively behind her. The footage reportedly captured the sound of screeching tires followed by a loud crash.

The victim told police that Hamilton intentionally rammed her vehicle and then pursued her back to Nantuckett Avenue. Despite her attempts to escape, Hamilton allegedly continued driving aggressively and struck her vehicle a second time.

Police said Hamilton later began calling the victim. A short time afterward, he appeared on a balcony at the residence. Officers informed him that he was under arrest for domestic violence, but he allegedly refused to comply with their commands.

On Wednesday, North Charleston police learned that Hamilton was in the custody of Goose Creek Police. He was subsequently charged with Domestic Violence First Degree, Kidnapping, and Resisting Arrest. He was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
