Summer Safety Reminder from the Wyomissing Police Department!!!!

Summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors, spend time with family and friends, and explore our community. As the warmer weather continues, we encourage everyone to keep these important safety tips in mind:

• Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water, especially during hot and humid days.

• Lock Your Vehicles – Remove valuables from sight and always lock your car, even when parked at home.

• Watch for Pedestrians and Cyclists – Increased outdoor activity means more people walking, biking, and exercising near roadways.

• Practice Pool and Water Safety – Never leave children unattended near water, and ensure proper supervision at all times.

• Micromobility Vehicle Safety – Micromobility vehicles (small, low-speed personal transportation devices such as e-bikes, electric scooters, hoverboards, and similar devices) are becoming increasingly popular.

  • Ride only where permitted by law.
  • Follow all traffic laws and signs.
  • Wear a properly fitted helmet.
  • Stay alert and avoid distractions.
  • Be visible to motorists, especially during dawn, dusk, and nighttime hours.

In Pennsylvania, operators of electric bicycles may generally ride on roadways and bicycle facilities where traditional bicycles are permitted. Riders should always follow local regulations regarding sidewalks, parks, and trails. Electric scooters and other devices may have additional restrictions depending on their classification and location. Always check applicable laws before riding.

• Keep an Eye on Children – Remind children about stranger safety, traffic awareness, and the importance of staying with trusted adults.

Together, we can make this a safe and enjoyable summer for everyone in Wyomissing. If you see suspicious activity or need police assistance, please contact the Wyomissing Police Department.

Have a safe and happy summer.
