Two men were arrested early Monday morning after police allegedly found numerous open containers of alcohol inside their vehicle during a traffic stop.
A North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) officer on routine patrol around 2:45 a.m. near Rivers Avenue and Remount Road observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Rivers Avenue after it exited a Sunoco gas station.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and, upon approaching the vehicle, reportedly observed several open beer containers in plain view. Police said both the driver and passenger were removed from the vehicle and detained while officers conducted a probable cause search.
During the search, officers allegedly discovered numerous open and partially consumed beers throughout the vehicle's passenger compartment, including beverages located in both the driver and passenger cup holders.
The driver, 34-year-old Severiano Francisco Felix of Charleston was found to be operating the vehicle without ever having been issued a driver's license in the United States or any recognized territory, according to police.
Francisco Felix was charged with Open Container Beer/Wine in a Motor Vehicle, Driving Without a South Carolina License (First Offense), and Driving on the Wrong Side of a Divided Highway. Passenger Luis Mario DeJesus Osorio, 29, of North Charleston was charged with Open Container Beer/Wine in a Motor Vehicle.
Both men were transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center following their arrests.
