North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 12:55 a.m., officers responded to Avian Place Apartments on Dorchester Road after receiving reports of gunshots in the area. Shortly afterward, dispatch received an iPhone crash notification near 5131 Dorchester Road.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into a building. The driver was suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers removed the victim from the vehicle and began providing emergency medical aid until personnel from the North Charleston Fire Department and EMS arrived.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation remains active, and no arrests have been made.
