As the school year wraps up, Nether Providence Township Police Officer Taryn Kelly visited Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School on Thursday. She spoke with K-7 students about staying safe during the summer.
Emphasizing "Stranger Danger" concepts, she urged students to stay alert around unfamiliar people and trust their instincts if they felt uneasy.
Officer Kelly covered bike and water safety throughout a 90-minute assembly.
“I reminded them that wearing a helmet keeps you safe,” she said.
Officer Kelly fielded questions, and students described how they would use her tips at swim clubs and beaches.
The visit ended with a group photo of Officer Kelly and the students.
A frequent visitor this year, Officer Kelly left with a stack of thank-you cards. Two younger students even sketched pictures of themselves with their favorite officer.
