NPPD officer adds sweet twist to student’s school ride!
Sixth-grade student Anna Hannigan kicked off her Friday with a super fun coffee run on her way to school, thanks to Nether Providence Township Police Officer Taryn Kelly, her official chauffeur for the morning.
Anna’s parents, Andrea and Mike, scored the winning bid for a ride-to-school experience at Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School’s spring fundraiser.
The excitement started bright and early at 7:30 a.m., with the family greeting Officer Kelly and Mom snapping plenty of photos to remember the day.
Their first stop? Ocean City Coffee Co. on State Street in Media, where Anna indulged in two of her favorites: caramel iced coffee paired with a gooey cinnamon bun.
“Can I get a cup of coffee, or am I too excited?” Anna asked beforehand, smiling ear to ear.
Officer Kelly remarked that Anna’s enthusiasm was infectious.
“I really love doing this,” she said.
During the ride, the ‘girls’ gabbed like old friends. They swapped stories about favorite TV shows and upcoming summer adventures. Their easy banter was no surprise, since the two had already bonded during Officer Kelly’s school visits throughout the year.
Officer Kelly said Anna was especially excited about celebrating her 12th birthday on June 9.
When the NPPD patrol car pulled into the car line at school, one of the teachers, Mrs. (Eileen) Pry, was waiting, camera ready to capture even more of the fun.
