Celebrating Special Olympics Athletes: A Unifying Run

On May 12, 2026, over 30 officers from various law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Lycoming Regional Police Department, Lycoming County Sheriff's Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Lycoming County Prison, and the Williamsport Bureau of Police, came together to participate in a ceremonial run in support of Special Olympics athletes.

The 2-mile run, which began at Lycoming College and ended at Penn College, was a remarkable display of unity and solidarity with the athletes as they prepare for the Summer Special Olympics in State College. The officers were joined by some of the athletes during the run and were greeted by others at the finish line, making for an unforgettable experience.

This event served as a powerful testament to the importance of community and support for these incredible athletes. The Williamsport Bureau of Police is proud to have been a part of this initiative, promoting inclusivity and celebrating the achievements of our local Special Olympics athletes.
