The North Charleston Police Department's (NCPD) Traffic Unit has launched an investigation into a single-vehicle collision that resulted in a fatality, which took place in the early morning hours.

Around 5:39 in the morning, emergency services received a crash notification from an iPhone in the vicinity of US Highway 52 and NAD Road. Responding units quickly arrived at the scene and found a wrong-way SUV that had veered off the road into the nearby woods. The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was still inside and was sadly declared deceased at the scene.

A joint investigation is underway, led by our Traffic Unit and the Charleston County Coroner's Office, to determine the circumstances surrounding this collision. Anyone with information that may help the investigation is asked to submit a tip via our CRIMEWATCH platform.
