North Charleston police arrested a 57-year-old Moncks Corner man, Richard Yarborough, on Sunday night after finding suspected drugs in his vehicle.
Officers were patrolling near hotels on Ashley Phosphate Road due to ongoing narcotics activity when they noticed Yarborough driving slowly and behaving suspiciously. After stopping abruptly and pulling into a closed business lot, he told officers he was trying to reach a nearby lodge.
During the interaction, officers observed that he appeared very nervous and had trouble retrieving his ID. After asking him to step out of the vehicle, they spotted an open toolbox in the back seat containing a small bag of a crystalline substance.
The substance—about 0.57 grams—tested presumptively positive for both fentanyl and methamphetamine.
