Road Construction Alert: Library Rd (Rte 88) in Castle Shannon
As we enter road construction season, PennDOT and their subcontractor, Mele and Mele, announce a significant project affecting Library Rd (Rte 88) in Castle Shannon. The project is scheduled to begin on March 23, 2026, and is expected to be completed by April 3, 2028.
The construction work will involve milling and paving Library Rd from Saw Mill Run Blvd (Rte 51) in the Overbrook Section of Pittsburgh to Connor Rd in Bethel Park. To minimize traffic disruptions, the work will be conducted at night, from 8pm to 6am, Monday through Friday.
The project will be completed in stages, starting with drainage, slope repair, and guiderail updates, followed by milling, paving, and lane markings. Flaggers and Police will be on hand as needed to ensure safety and control traffic.
Motorists should be aware that the work zone will include alternating single lanes of traffic at times. We encourage drivers to plan ahead, allow for extra time, and exercise caution when traveling through the construction area.
