Through a collaborative effort, the Northwoods Middle School administration and School Resource Officer (SRO) successfully recovered a loaded firearm from a 14-year-old student. The firearm was discovered inside the student's backpack during a search conducted by the school administration.
It is essential to note that at no time were there any threats of violence. The search was carried out in accordance with the school's protocols, which prioritize the safety and security of the campus.
The juvenile was taken into custody without incident. The juvenile was charged with Weapon on School Property and and Minor in Possession of a Firearm. The juvenile was released on custodial promise they would appear at all future court hearings.
