The North Charleston Police Department's (NCPD's) Traffic Unit collaborated on Friday, January 30th, 2026 with Charleston and Dorchester County sheriff's offices to address community concerns about traffic safety. In response to community feedback, a joint enforcement operation was conducted in the northern part of the city, targeting areas such as the upper Dorchester Road corridor, Wescott Plantation, Weber Boulevard, and Palmetto Commerce Parkway. The operation focused on addressing speeding, moving violations, and improper use of golf carts, and commercial vehicles operating in restricted areas.
In the six hours of the operation, the operation made 187 stops for observed violations. Officers and deputies exercised their discretion, resulting in citations being issued to nearly two-thirds of the drivers, with the remaining third receiving written warnings.
Our Traffic Unit remains committed to ensuring the city's roads are safe for everyone, always working toward a safer driving environment for residents and visitors alike.
