North Charleston, SC — 12/17/2025— It is with profound sadness that I address the tragic and heartbreaking loss of a four-year-old child who was killed as an innocent victim of gun violence on Van Buren Avenue on 12/16/2025.
This was a senseless act that claimed the life of a young child who had his entire future ahead of him. No words can fully express the sorrow felt by our department and by this community. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the child’s family and loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.
The loss of a child to violence is something no family and no community should ever have to endure. Our department is fully committed to conducting a thorough and ongoing investigation to ensure accountability and justice. We are working diligently and respectfully, while prioritizing the dignity of the victim and the privacy of the family.
I want to be clear: violence of any kind, especially acts that harm innocent children, will not be tolerated. We urge anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist law enforcement as we continue this investigation.
As Chief of Police, I stand with this family and with our community in grieving this devastating loss, and I reaffirm our commitment to doing everything in our power to protect the safety of our residents, especially our children.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
