The North Charleston Police Department would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding while we completed our internal investigation into the incident that occurred on July 15, 2025, at the Circle K located at Rivers Avenue and Otranto Road.
The investigation is now complete. As a result, the officer involved was found to have violated two (2) department policies and procedures. Appropriate disciplinary action has been taken — the officer has been demoted, suspended for multiple days, and removed from patrol duties.
We want to be clear: this incident does not reflect the values or culture of the North Charleston Police Department. Our agency is committed to professionalism, transparency, and accountability. We do not and will not tolerate behavior that undermines the trust we have worked diligently to build with our community.
We take great pride in our community engagement initiatives and in fostering meaningful partnerships with residents and businesses across North Charleston. These relationships are the foundation of effective and respectful policing. The conduct that occurred on July 15th undermines the good work our officers perform every day — including saving lives, mentoring youth, and apprehending violent offenders.
