On October 18, 2024, at approximately 1:15 PM, Lycoming Regional Police Department responded to a call in Piatt Twp on Cement Hollow Rd. regarding a male individual who attempted to set himself on fire. The first unit to arrive on the scene was a patrol officer partnered with the department's mental health co-responder. Upon arrival, they found the individual, a 21-year-old male, suffering from burns to his body. The individual had a blow torch and was threatening to dowse himself with gasoline. The officer and mental health co-responder worked well together making the scene safe and quickly convincing the individual to get medical treatment.
Fire and Emergency medical services were immediately summoned, and the individual was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
