(DeLand, Florida) - The DeLand Police Department is excited to announce the start of its annual Citizen Police Academy, designed to give community members an inside look at the operations and procedures of law enforcement.
The Citizen Police Academy will take place Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. for six weeks from September 19, 2024, to October 24, 2024, and will include hands-on activities, presentations, and discussions.
The academy will cover a variety of topics including patrol operations, firearms, defensive tactics, crime scene, criminal investigations and traffic unit. Participants will also have the chance to interact with officers and ask questions about their experiences on the job.
Interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as seating is limited to 20 participants. The class will be held at the DPD headquarters located at 219 W. Howry Avenue, DeLand, Florida.
