Patrol Officer Steven Kilian is Officer of the Year for the Nether Providence Township Police Department.
Chief David Splain presented Kilian with a plaque at the recent Board of Commissioners meeting and noted what makes the award so significant is that peers vote on the recipient.
"It truly is an honor," said Kilian, who is in his 19th year with the department.
Chief Splain also praised Kilian, stating, "It is a pleasure to work with someone of Steve’s caliber and character. He is always someone you can depend on to get the job done."
The Raymond L. White Officer of the Year Award is in memory of an exemplary detective sergeant who died in the line of duty in 1983. Kilian joins previous recipients whose names are etched on a plaque that hangs alongside the blouse coat of Detective Sgt. White, which is displayed in police headquarters.
