Lycoming Regional Police Officer Yoas and Officer Fizzano conducted a traffic stop early this morning, March 28, 2024 around 2:00AM on a leased vehicle that was exceeding the maximum posted speed limit on SR 220 Hwy South in Piatt Township.  During the traffic stop, Officer Yoas observed a methamphetamine pipe in plain view.  The vehicle occupants, Raymond Poust Jr. (driver) and Jessica Smith (passenger and the person who leased the vehicle), provided police with consent to search the vehicle.  During the course of the search, police found a loaded 9mm handgun concealed in the center console.  Also located concealed on the floor behind the driver and passenger seats was a loaded AR-15 rifle with a high-power scope.  Inside the trunk of the vehicle was a .410 shotgun.  Neither Smith nor Poust Jr. possessed a License to Carry Firearms Concealed.  Also, during the search, Officers discovered drug contraband to include more smoking devices for methamphetamine, silicone containers with suspected methamphetamine, baggies containing methamphetamine and a hidden container with a quantity of suspected methamphetamine in it.  Jessica Smith had an active failure to appear bench warrant out of Northumberland County.  Both Smith and Poust Jr. were taken into custody and arraigned by a Magisterial District Judge on felony firearms charges and possession of controlled substance, and paraphernalia charges.  They were both committed to Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
