On August 15, 2023, Brett Keim of Newville was sentenced by the Honorable Matthew P. Smith to up to 2 years in state prison. Keim previously entered guilty pleas to two counts of Aggravated Assault by Vehicle and one count of No Passing Zones. The charges stem from an incident on August 1, 2020, when Brett Keim passed a tractor-trailer in a marked no passing zone on a blind hill on Route 94 in Cumberland County. While making the illegal and unsafe pass, Keim hit another vehicle head-on causing catastrophic and life-threatening injuries to its occupants. The two victims, who appeared in court at sentencing, suffered multiple traumatic injuries, some of which have lifelong impact.
The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank Trooper Erik Burgos of the Pennsylvania State Police for his hard work in investigating this crash. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Courtney Hair LaRue.
