On June 13, 2023, a New Hope resident/employee reported being the victim of a phone scam. The subject stated she received a text from an unknown number (856-702-2497) claiming to be her employer. Subsequent  text messages requested she acquire Apple cards and provide the PIN. She used her employer's credit card to purchase $700.00 worth of Apple cards & then provided the information to the scammer as they instructed. Once the transaction was completed, the scammer stopped answering her texts and the phone number was then no longer in service. The subject was advised this was a common scam and the imposter was likely using a burner phone or a messenger app.
